Extensive Experience as a Coach, Competitor and Judge
Lynne’s competitive gymnastics career started in 1971 at age 8 at Clemmer School of Gymnastics, in Charlotte, NC. She remained at Clemmer’s until she graduated from high school. One aspect of gymnastics for Lynne was that she was a ‘commuter gymnast’, commuting for four years, 3 hours a day, round-trip to and from gymnastics classes to Charlotte from her home-town in Morganton, NC. While training at Clemmer’s, Lynne also received 8 years of intensive ballet, en pointe, and jazz. After 7 years of competitive gymnastics, Lynne turned to coaching. She also began judging competitive gymnastics, and eventually judged NCAA college gymnastics.
After moving to Los Alamos, NM in 1990, Lynne served two years as New Mexico State Judging Director for the National Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges during which she judged Junior Olympic regional competitions. In Los Alamos, Lynne became active in the dance community, and performed with ‘Oxymoron’, a performance dance company under the direction of Christen. She also appeared in the Los Alamos Light Opera production of ‘The King and I’ and ‘The Music Man’ as well as in the Santa Fe Choreographer’s showcase. Lynne also enjoyed many years of performance in the local Little Theater Melodrama as a can-can dancer. She has been involved in Dance Arts Los Alamos ballet program, Scottish Highland dancing, and has appeared in a performance with Cathy Bearden in the Los Alamos Light Opera, ‘Forever Plaid’.
